About us

hc-heyerconsulting was founded by the owner Dr. Joachim Heyer in April 2014.

We give technical and scientific advice to customers in the field of surface technology. This can be support in the selection of the right coating technology, guidance in R&D activities or making contacts to technology partners.

The owner has more than 25 years of experience in R&D in surface technology, most of the time in managing positions.  Until 2014 he held the position of an R&D Director at one of the leading global suppliers of process chemistry for the electroplating industry.

Surface technology plays an important role in the fields of electronics, automotive, mechanical engineering and building industry. Therefore intensive contacts exist to R&D departments and managements of suppliers and OEM’s in those areas.

Since long years Dr. Heyer is member of the Research Board of “DGO”, the German Society of Plating and Surface Technology.  In this committee trends and future needs of the surface technology are discussed.

Since 1998 he is active in the area of 3-D MID (Molded Interconnect Devices) and belongs to the early generation of R&D guys in Germany, one of the most important places for MID development. Although the biggest commercial breakthrough has taken place in China with smart phone and tablet antennas, also the European market shows in increase specifically in the automotive field (e. g. for sensors).

Dr. Heyer is member of the Research Board of the 3D-MID e.V., an association of more than 100 German and international companies and institutes . Between 2004 and 2010 he was also Vice-President of this organization. The associations goal is to support and spread the MID- technology.

Numerous presentations, publications in journals and books and patents are published. The scope of the work is wide-ranging and includes the development of sliding layers for bearings as used in turbo diesel engines as well as Lead-free solder coatings for electronic applications. But also publications on the impact of the European chemistry legislation REACh on the product development in surface technology have been published.
